Three price bands
The 2026 rate card has a column for items under $10.00, one for $10.00 to $50.00, and one for items over $50.00. The band uses the item's price: exactly $10.00 and exactly $50.00 are both in the middle band. Under $10, Amazon's Low-Price FBA rates apply automatically, with no enrolment, and average about $0.86 less per unit. Over $50, standard-size fees are $0.26 higher than the middle band.
| Small standard | Under $10 | $10–$50 | Low-price saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 oz or less | $2.43 | $3.32 | −$0.89 |
| 2+ to 4 oz | $2.49 | $3.42 | −$0.93 |
| 4+ to 6 oz | $2.56 | $3.45 | −$0.89 |
| 6+ to 8 oz | $2.66 | $3.54 | −$0.88 |
| Large standard | Under $10 | $10–$50 | Low-price saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 oz or less | $2.91 | $3.73 | −$0.82 |
| 4+ to 8 oz | $3.13 | $3.95 | −$0.82 |
| 8+ to 12 oz | $3.38 | $4.20 | −$0.82 |
| 12+ to 16 oz | $3.78 | $4.60 | −$0.82 |
When $9.99 beats $10.49
Take a 3 oz small standard item that costs $2.00 to make. With the surcharge and a 15% referral fee:
| Price | Fulfillment | Referral | Net per unit |
|---|---|---|---|
| $9.99 | $2.58 | $1.50 | $3.91 |
| $10.49 | $3.54 | $1.57 | $3.38 |
| $10.99 | $3.54 | $1.65 | $3.80 |
At $9.99 you keep $0.53 more per unit than at $10.49, because the Low-Price fee saving is bigger than the 50 cents of price. Above roughly $11 the higher price wins again. The calculator flags this automatically as a fee cliff.
The $50 line
The same thing happens at the top: at $50.00 a 14 oz large standard item nets $22.74; at $50.99 it nets $23.31, because the fulfillment fee jumps by $0.27 while the referral fee also rises with the price.
Things to watch
- The band follows your actual selling price, so a coupon or sale can move a unit into another band.
- Referral fees in Beauty, Baby and Grocery also change at $10 and $15, sometimes on the whole price. Check both lines together with the referral fee lookup.
- Holiday peak rates keep the three bands.
